Local contractors will install school irrigation systems
Two local contractors have been awarded contracts related to construction projects at Perham public schools.
At a short meeting following the groundbreaking ceremony for the future Perham High School last Wednesday, Perham-Dent School Board members approved bids for irrigation work around the new school, as well as at the elementary school.
Aqua Lawn, Inc. was the low bidder for a new irrigation system at Heart of the Lakes Elementary School, with a bid of $75,500. Lakes Country Landscaping was the low bidder for the system at the new high school, with a bid of $63,645.
The irrigation systems will consist of underground sprinklers under the existing grass at the elementary and middle schools, as well as under the new grass surrounding the future high school.
Superintendent Mitch Anderson said sod would be installed around the perimeter of the new high school and its parking lots, with natural grasses covering the large, undeveloped areas surrounding that. He said the look of the landscaping will be very similar to that of Perham Health, which is right down the road from the site of the new high school.
