The Prairie Wind Middle School spelling bee took place on January 22nd. All students grades five through eight were given a preliminary spelling test in their classroom, and then the winners of each grade were invited to the school-wide spelling bee.

The participants and spelling winners of each grade are as follows: 5th grade: Blake Swanson, Karlee Kunza, Ellie Cissel, Bree Schossow, and Hunter Dupuis. 6th grade: Elizabeth Spencer, Laney Wacker, Madeleine Lamb, and Stella Strong. 7th grade: Jackson Brown, Alana Brandvold, Thomas Pederson, Aspen Thiel, Haven Roth, Meghan Reed, and Lavonne Lindberg. 8th Grade: Evelyn Guajardo, Joe Reed, Carter Seedorf, and Audrey Tumberg. The spelling bee champion of the night was 7th grader Jackson Brown. 6th grader Elizabeth Spencer received second place, and 7th grader Aspen Theil received third place. Jackson Brown will now move on to the regional spelling bee in Fergus Falls on February 6th .
