On the 40th anniversary of the first Earth Day (April 22), Perham's Prairie Wind Middle School students went to work in the courtyard edging, weeding, raking, and pruning.

Janet Buchin's, Bob Tangen's and Sue Jones' homebase students worked hard and made a big improvement to the courtyard based on the advice of area Master Gardeners (the Rethemeiers), a donation of worm castings from the Krumwiedes, and a lot of thought and footwork by their teachers.

Thanks to the generous support of everyone involved with the Earth Day project, students were able to increase their awareness of and appreciation for the Earth.
