Perham refuse funding public hearing scheduled
County commissioners voted to schedule a public hearing at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, for the issuance of general obligation bonds for the Perham refuse burner.
The project will be coordinated by the Prairie Lakes Municipal Solid Waste Authority (PLMSWA) and consist of equipment improvements.
The public hearing will be held during a regular county board meeting at the Government Services Center in Fergus Falls.
Ownership of the refuse burner in Perham includes Otter Tail, Becker, Todd, Wadena and Clay counties. Decisions are made through a joint powers agreement.
There are two burners, two waste heat boilers and an auxiliary boiler in Perham. A recent expansion includes a waste heat boiler as well as a facility to help separate out recyclable items.
State grant to benefit Otter Tail County
The county has entered into an agreement with the State of Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources agreement which will result in a grant of $193,200 to Otter Tail County.
County Land and Resource Director Bill Kalar says the funding will he used for the county water plan, Wetland Conservation Act, DNR shoreland and MPCA subsurface sewage treatment systems.
