Nonprofit holding fundraiser at Pizza Ranch October 16 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Getting a nonprofit up and running isn't easy, but those who have a passion for the cause they are committed to and a desire to see it succeed fight to overcome the obstacles and Emily Mingo and the volunteers helping her with Firefly Fields Youth Ranch are no different.
Mingo wants to put her love of horses to good use and mentor children through working with horses and animals, teaching them life skills in a ranch setting.
"My parents took in foster kids and when I was older I started taking them out and teaching them to ride and I noticed that when they focused on the horses and learning to ride they just seemed to forget everything else around them," Mingo said.
Providing that experience for other children is what Mingo hopes to accomplish, but she needs helps getting there. She's holding a fundraiser at Pizza Ranch in Perham, Monday, October 16th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come in and tell them you are there to support Firefly Fields Youth Ranch. All proceeds will go to help support the nonprofit with things such as winter hay, fencing, helmets for the kids and other supplies. Merchandise will be available for sale.
