Frost advisory issued for area

The first frost this season could come tonight.

Strong winds should continue through this afternoon before dying down overnight and giving way to a chance of frost.

The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday for all of eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota, including Otter Tail County. A freeze watch has been issued for the northeast portion of Minnesota.

Clear skies and light winds will allow temperatures to fall into the lower to mid-30s, causing widespread areas of frost to form, which could injure or kill sensitive plants, the weather service says.

High temperatures will be in the mid-to-high 50s this week, with lows creeping back up into the 40s.
