Table Fair fundraiser comes back to Perham on Feb. 12
The largest fundraiser of the year for the library in Perham is coming up soon.
The Friends of the Perham Area Library's annual Table Fair Gala will be held Saturday, Feb. 12 at Mulligan's.
The event centers on tables that have been decorated by community members. The evening includes entertainment, food and an auction of unique items.
The annual event has been going on for the past six years, according to librarian Susan Heusser-Ladwig.
Typically up to 200 people attend the event, which brings in up to $17,000. The funds raised go to support special programs, author programs and the summer reading program for kids. Funds are also used to purchase equipment for the library.
The event is set to start with a table viewing from 2-4 p.m. with a $3 entry fee. A social hour will be held from 5-6 p.m. with dinner seating to begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased starting Tuesday, Feb. 1 from the library. Entertainment will be provided by Crazy Keys, a piano duo.
Organizers are now collecting items for both the live and silent auctions. Anyone interested in donating an item for the auction, contact Heusser-Ladwig at the library at 218-346-4892.

Several other special events are ongoing or upcoming at the library. A series of art history lectures are coming up throughout the spring, according to Heusser-Ladwig.
Happening now is a reading promotion for adults called "Hot Reads for Cold Nights." Through January, February and March, adults can come to the library and get a stamp for every book they read. Once four books are read, the reader gets a prize.
"That will be running through the end of March," Heusser-Ladwig said. "Anyone can stop in and get signed up for that right now."
