Uselman and Rutten close last school board meeting
Perham-Dent Superintendent Tamara Uselman and high school principal John Rutten closed the books on a chapter of their life on June 15 after attending their last Perham-Dent School Board meeting.
"I appreciate the support I've had over the years," Rutten said to board members at the beginning of the meeting. "Ten years seems like a blink."
While most of Uselman's superintendent report didn't give any indication that it would be her last, she did touch on the subject.
"A thank you to the board for eight great years - really good years," she said.
Board members also chimed in, including long-timer Jim Rieber.
"It's been fun, it's been interesting," he said. "I've learned a tremendous amount about caring for kids."
Uselman is leaving to take a position as superintendent of Bismarck Schools in Bismarck, N.D. Rutten is leaving to take on a teaching position in Saudi Arabia.
A reception for Uselman will be held at Mulligan's from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28.
