Perham woman charged for stealing three rings
A Perham woman made her first appearance Tuesday in Becker County District Court on a felony property theft charge.
Sharon Elizabeth Scully, 43, of 210 2nd Ave. SE, Apt. 3, Perham, is accused of taking three rings, valued at over $1,000, from the bedroom of a Becker County home on May 5.
According to the criminal complaint, Scully had been a visitor at the home and had been in the bedroom of her friend's mother before the missing rings were discovered. Scully was later seen showing off a ring that had a diamond in it which looked very familiar.
During the subsequent investigation, a jeweler in Perham said that Scully had sold him the three rings, after he had removed a half-carat diamond from one of them and put it into a new setting for her. All three rings were identified as the ones that had been reported as missing.
