County board approves lakes area projects
The Otter Tail County Board of Commissioners has approved three conditional use permits near area lakes, and tabled two more.
Approved was a request from Connie Merrill for placement of a sign near Lake Lizzie in Dunn Township. Merrill sells quilts and has room for two parking spaces at the location near Pelican Rapids.
Approved, but with a condition, was a request from James and Linda Kucera and Genevieve Strande for installation of a water main in Section 31 of Fergus Falls Township near the Pelican River. Work can proceed on the condition that the County Land and Resource Department receive and approve an erosion control plan.
Also approved was a conditional use permit request from Michael Kitchenmaster of Rose Ridge Resort for the addition of one dwelling to replace an existing storage shed. This will bring to eight the number of dwellings near Rose Lake in Hobart Township, near Vergas.
The approvals were made at a board meeting Aug. 14, upon recommendation of the county Planning Commission.
Tabled until Aug. 21, with likely approval, is a request from Bonnie Beach Resort to replace 15 cabins with six duplex units. Work, after approval, will take place at Clitherall Lake, east of Battle Lake. Existing sewer and water systems will be used.
Tabled until Sept. 11 is a request from Mark and Roger Fenstad for topographical alterations for landscape related to work for a new home at Big McDonald Lake in Edna Township, west of Perham. Drainage and erosion concerns have led to the delay.
Included in the planning commission's recommendation is a request that the Fenstads provide a water containment plan that will mitigate the increase in impervious surface. They also will provide a plan identifying the relocation of a sewage system.
