County board accepts EAW as complete
The county board of commissioners, on May 9, accepted as complete the Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) reviewed by a third party, Houston Engineering.
The voluntary Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) process was put into motion by the White Earth Nation for the proposed Star Lake casino project. The EAW will now be forwarded to the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board (EQB).
The EQB and Otter Tail County will publish the EAW on their respective websites. A public comment period will run from May 19 to June 21.
Two public meetings, each from 7 to 9 p.m., are tentatively planned to be held at the Pelican Rapids High School Auditorium.
The evening meeting on Thursday, June 15, will be held to take public comments on the EAW. The evening meeting on Thursday, June 29, will be held to allow county commissioners the opportunity to obtain clarification on previously submitted EAW comments.
On Tuesday, July 11, during its weekly meeting, the county board of commissioners will decide if an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is needed, in addition to the EAW.
