Perham's playoff opener moved to Friday

The Perham Yellowjackets will have to wait another day for their postseason rematch with Crosby-Ironton as the opening round of the Section 8AA volleyball tournament has been postponed.

The Yellowjackets and the Rangers were scheduled to square off on Oct. 26, but inclement weather across the region has forced the cancellation of the games. The section committee and staff elected to cancel all the games if one game could not be played on Oct. 26. The cancellation keeps the tournament on track, not forcing rescheduling issues for games in different rounds on different days.

The Yellowjackets and the Rangers will square off at 7 p.m. at the Prairie Wind Middle School on Oct. 27. The quarterfinals of the tournament will take place on Oct. 28 with a time to be determined.

Other first round games include Fergus Falls hosting Detroit Lakes and Pequot Lakes hosting Staples-Motley. Park Rapids Area earned the No. 1 seed in the south and received a first round bye.

In the north half, Roseau will take on Bagley, while Thief River Falls hosts Warroad. Hawley will host East Grand Forks while Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton hosting Crookston.

The semifinals are scheduled to take place on Oct. 31, while the championship round will be scheduled for Nov. 4, both rounds will be at a neutral site.
