DL girls score season-high nine goals against Pirates

Detroit Lakes used a seven-goal second period to defeat Crookston 9-1 in a Section 8A girls hockey matchup Tuesday night at Kent Freeman Arena.

Karrigan Hallisey had a five-point night scoring two goals and adding three assists. Her first tally was the lone goal of the first period.

Madyson Melgard had a pair of goals and two assists. Her first goal became the eventual game-winner a minute into the second period and began the DL scoring barrage.

Abagail King had two goals and two assists. Emma Coley scored twice.

Anna Payne had a goal and an assist.

Payton Carlblom and Annie Campbell both had a pair of assists from the defense. Lily Burnside also got on the scoresheet assisting on Coley’s first goal.

Kyndra McDougall made 16 saves for the victory. DL outshot the Pirates 54-17. Crookston goalie Brelee Jobe made 45 saves.

Crookston (5-20, 0-8) wraps up the regular season at home versus Grand Forks. DL (8-16, 4-4) plays its final game at East Grand Forks (14-8-1, 5-5-1) Thursday, Feb. 1.
