Diane was born on December 14, 1951 to Laurel Weickert and Rose Belka in Perham, MN. Diane lived in ND, WI, and MN where she retired after 30 years with Northwestern Bell/AT&T in 2011.
Diane lived her life full of fun, and "rebellion," as she proclaimed. Diane loved her family and enjoyed spending time with family, especially at Christmas. Diane loved children and hated to see any child in despair or in need of something they deserved, but, couldn't have for any reason. In 1985, Diane was one of four individuals who started Make-A-Wish of North Dakota. As a Founder, Diane initiated and granted many wishes over her years with the organization, and followed its growth closely. In 2015, Diane attended the 30 year anniversary of Make-A-Wish of North Dakota with the other 3 Founders, where all were recognized for their contributions. Diane stated many times that this was one of her greatest achievements in her life, and she was so proud of Make-A-Wish, and all who work and volunteer for it. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on Friday, August 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 17th Ave. East, Shakopee, MN; followed by a post funeral reception with Celebration of Life at Dangerfield's Restaurant, 1583 1st Ave. E, Shakopee, MN.
