Audrey Marie Johnson

Audrey Marie Johnson passed away peacefully at 101 years in Sedona, Arizona on September 9, 2017, after a short illness. Audrey was born in Howard Lake , Minnesota on June 27, 1916 to Robert and Ida Streich. Audrey graduated from Moorhead High School in Moorhead, MN, in 1935 and subsequently attended Moorhead State Teacher College.

Audrey was married in Fargo, ND, on July 10, 1941 to Dr. Russell J. Johnson, DDS from Perham, MN. Dr. Johnson enlisted in the US Navy in 1942. And was attached to the second Marine Division in the South Pacific during WWII.

After the war, Audrey and Russ, settled in Perham, MN where Dr. Johnson had his dental practice. They raised two daughters, Jennifer (Graham) and Candice (Fleming). Audrey has one grandson, John Graham.

Russ and Audrey were active in Perham civic affairs and longtime members of Calvary Lutheran Church. They enjoyed lake living on Little Pine Lake on which they built a permanent home where Audrey remained after Russ passed away in October, 1997, until she recently moved to Sedona, AZ.

Audrey had many interests that she loved including playing bridge for 70 years, fishing, cooking and baking, reading, travel and volunteering including on the Perham Library Board for 40 years.

Audrey is survived by: her daughters, Jennifer (Tom) Graham, Sedona, AZ, and Candice (Ian) Fleming, Pine Springs, MN, grandson, John (Susana) Graham, great grandchildren, Gabrielle Graham and Hudson Graham, sisters-in-laws, Marion Streich, Jeannine Streich, and Marilyn Hanson and many nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were her husband, Russell Johnson, her four brothers, three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

Memorials preferred to: Calvary Lutheran Church Perham, MN, and Shriners Children's Hospitals

Service followed by reception 11:30 AM Monday, September 18, 2017 Thomson-Dougherty Mansion 2535 Park Ave Minneapolis, MN 55404 with visitation at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorial service at Calvary Lutheran Church, Perham, MN, schedule to be announced.
