Baseball: Eagles pound Hancock for 17 runs to remain undefeated

NEW YORK MILLS — The Eagles’ baseball team improved to 8-0 after a 17-3 thumping of Hancock Friday.

11 Eagles scored in the game, six batters scored twice.

New York Mills blew the game open with a 12-run first inning. Adam Patron, Brandon Kupfer, Tyler Patron and Dan Kraft all scored twice in the first frame. Seven straight Eagles scored after leadoff hitter Nick Kupfer was retired for the first out of the inning.

Kupfer answered his next time up with a solo home run in the second inning.

Damon Tumberg also homered for New York Mills.

Dustin Gaudette led the team with five RBI on a perfect 2-2 day at the plate.

Tyler Patron was 3-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Six Eagles had multi-hit games.

Brandon Kupfer got the win on the mound pitching three scoreless innings. Kupfer has yet to allow a run this season.

Hancock got on the board with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth off reliever AJ Wegscheid.
