Moser third, Kellogg fourth at Class AA Championships
It was a measure of revenge for Perham’s Ty Moser when he defeated Will Storch for third place in the Class AA Individual Championships at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., on March 4.
Moser earned an 8-6 victory Storch, a day after falling to him in the quarterfinals, 3-1, on a late takedown. The victory continued a strong state tournament for the sophomore phenom. Moser came in as the No. 3 seed and finished third. He rallied off five wins, four straight in the individual tournament, while posting a perfect record during the team tournament. Moser was one of two Yellowjackets named to the Class AA All-Tournament Team after his performance in the team portion on Thursday.
Moser collected his 100th win of the year during the Class AA Individual Tournament and finishes the season with a 47-2 record.
Dawson Kellogg’s season came to a close with a state medal and a fourth place finish. Kellogg was defeated by Scott West’s Tyler Buesgens, by fall at the four minute and 41 second mark of the match.
It capped of a strong weekend of wrestling for the Perham ninth grader. He posted a 3-0 mark during the Class AA Team Tournament, while being named to the Class AA All Tournament team as well. Kellogg finished the individual portion of the tournament with a 3-2 mark, while accruing a 37-8 mark during the season.
