Buzz split with Moorhead Blues

The Perham Buzz returned to the diamond with a pair of Northern Lakes Conference games against the Moorhead Blues on July 6 in Moorhead. It was a tale of two games for the Buzz as they dropped game one convincingly, 11-1, but responded with an 8-3 victory in game two.

Moorhead used a strong first inning, putting the Buzz away with a six-run first inning. They added a pair of runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth, taking the 11-1 victory in game one.

Roo Schmitz suffered the loss for Perham. He allowed seven earned runs in five innings of work. He walked seven batters, hit two and struck out two batters.

Dawson Stevens finished with a pair of hits, while Ian Christenson added a double.

The Buzz responded with a strong outing from Nick Lindberg on the mound in game two. He went the distance, allowing three earned runs on six hits. He struck out five batters as well.

Perham jumped ahead with a pair of runs in the first, before scoring a single run in the fourth and four in the fifth. They added a run in the sixth, before Moorhead scored in the sixth and seventh innings, but it wasn’t enough to come back from the 7-0 deficit.

Nick Lindberg finished with a pair of hits, while Ty Moser finished with three hits in the victory.

Perham returns to action on July 8 with a noon contest against Park River, N.D. at Krueger Field.
