Puck set to drop on PAYHA's 2009-10 season
The Perham Area Youth Hockey Association (PAYHA) is ramping up for it's fourth season.
"The 2009-2010 is shaping up to be our most exciting season yet", said PAYHA President Bryan Tusow. "The most exciting addition to our program rolled into town recently."
As part of the PAYHA's commitment to the development of youth hockey and the facilities for our entire community to use, the group has purchased a Zamboni to maintain the ice surface at the PACC arena.
For those of you not familiar, a Zamboni is a vehicle that both shaves the ice surface and applies a uniform coat of water to provide a smooth safe skating surface.
"It's difficult to explain how huge a step this is for our program and for our community," Tusow said. "This piece of equipment will now put our skating surface on par with any indoor facility in the area. It's a tremendous step in legitimizing our commitment to program development."
The Zamboni was made possible by the business contributions of KLN, ACS, Daggett Truck lines and Knuttila Financial.
"Our young players are the core of our program," Tusow added. "We look forward to providing a low cost winter sport for area kids. Low cost enrollment and free equipment for players are two things we have been able to provide and are committed to continuing to provide. Players as young as 4-years-old are enjoying the benefits of what we are offering.
This weekend, on Saturday, Sept. 26, The PAYHA will hold their 4th Annual Golf Tournament and fundraiser at Perham Lakeside Golf Course. The tournament is a 4 person scramble format. Registration and lunch begin at noon. Shotgun start will be at 2 p.m. Entry fee is $75 per player. The entire community is welcome.
The PAYHA will also have their 2009-2010 Annual Association Meeting at Mulligan's at PLGC on Monday, Sept. 28. There will be a free will offering chili feed at 6 p.m. with the Annual Meeting following at 7 p.m. This is a great place for parents and kids interested in finding out more about hockey and our association to gather and chat.
