NYM Volleyball: Eagles get road win in Verndale

John George

After splitting a match with Verndale at their own invitational earlier this month, the New York Mills volleyball team took the upper hand in their Park Region Conference rivalry with the Pirates with a 3-0 road win Thursday night (25-16, 28-26, 25-14).

The back row was able to keep a lot of balls in play, allowing the offense to get in gear. The Eagles had a total of 82 digs with three girls in double figures (Betsy Helmeke 19, Rae Anna Salo 16, Kimberlee Erickson 16). All 11 girls on the varsity roster had at least one back row dig.

Lauren Rud set up 23 assists to getthe offense going. Alicia Boe had seven kills to lead the team. Hannah Rutten had six kills and a team-high 8 blocks.
