The Lady Jacket basketball team had their full court pressure and fast break style working in full force Monday night at Prairie Wind Gymnasium. Perham's defensive pressure was relentless and fueled the team to a 72-30 win over Ulen-Hitterdal.

Perham had 17 steals, led by Steph Miller with four, and forced 26 Spartan turnovers. That got the fast break going, and helped the Jackets build a 40-10 halftime lead.

"We looked a lot better tonight," head coach John Gullingsrud said. "Things are starting to come around. Everyone is figuring out their role and they are really starting to play well together."

In addition to her steals, Miller had seven points, five rebounds and five assists.

Katrina Moenkedick led all scorers with 22 points. She nearly completed the double-double, finishing with nine boards. Elisa Moenkedick had 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Lauren Guck and Kaylan Huber each had eight points.

Perham has won five-straight over U-H, including a sweep over the Spartans last year by an average score of 74-19.5.

Perham gets road win

The Jackets won their first road game of the season last Friday with a 61-48 win at Pelican Rapids.

Gullingsrud said his team played good enough to win against the Vikings, but he thought his team looked a little sluggish.

"It was a pretty good game," he said. "Our defense played pretty good and forced a lot of turnovers."

The Jackets finished with 13 steals and forced Pelican Rapids to turn it over 32 times.

Perham had three girls in double figures with Katrina Moenkedick leading the team with 16 points. Elisa Moenkedick added 14 points with 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Miller dished out 12 assists to go with seven points and six boards, and Guck finished with 12 points and six rebounds.

Kendra Coleman led Pelican Rapids with 22 points. Perham has now won 10-straight against the Vikings.

Up Next

The Jackets regular season HOL winning streak is now at 25 games. They will look to extend that tonight (Dec. 10) when they travel to Breckenridge. Perham has won six in a row against the Cowgirls.

The Lady Jackets will return to Prairie Wind Gymnasium on Dec. 14 when they host D-G-F. The Rebels handed Perham their last loss to a HOL team in the 2008 playoffs. Perham's last regular season HOL loss came Feb. 5, 2008 against Hawley.
