PHS Wrestling: S-M Invitational canceled

John George

What was already a slow week for the Perham wrestlers became even slower.

The Jackets only had one event scheduled for last week, the Staples-Motley Invitational on Jan. 23. That was canceled due to weather, and will not be rescheduled.

That will leave a full eight days away from competition between their last match on Jan. 19, and their next dual, tonight (Jan. 28) at Section 8AA rival Thief River Falls.

The Prowlers are ranked No. 14 in Class AA, and have three ranked wrestlers: Jacoby Bergeron (No. 1, 112), Chaz Abrahamson (No. 3, 125), Kyle LeDuc (No. 4, 135).

Perham and TRF have met in the last two Section 8AA championships, both won by the Jackets.

HOL ahead

The Jackets will follow that up with the Heart O' Lakes Championships on Jan. 30 in Breckenridge.

Perham has won three straight HOL titles, and 11 conference championships overall. Frazee (No. 2, Class A) and the Yellowjackets (No. 12, Class AA) are the only ranked teams in the conference.
