After a close first half, the New York Mills girls held off a scare from Sebeka on Feb. 5, 68-57.

The Lady Eagles were led all night by the two headed attack of Alicia Boe and Hannah Rutten. The two combined for 26 of the team's 28 first half points as the game was tied at halftime.

Boe went on to score 18 in the second half, including a 4-for-4 effort at the line, as Mills outscored their Park Region Conference rivals, 40-29. Boe finished with 31 points to go with seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.

The rematch will come in the season finale in Sebeka on March 1.

Win over Waubun

Boe was big again on Saturday for the Lady Eagles as they picked up a 73-59 win over Section 6A rival Waubun.

Boe hit four 3-pointers and finished with 32 points. She was 6-for-6 from the line in the first half as Mills built a 35-24 halftime lead.

Rutten scored 14 in the first half, and 15 in the second to finish with 29. She also had 16 rebounds to lead the Eagles.

Menze pulled down seven rebounds and had three steals to go with five points and four assists.

The Lady Eagles blew out Waubun (11-6) last year, 52-18.

Tuesday at U-H

Mills hit the road to take on another section foe, Ulen-Hitterdal (3-16). Boe's third straight 30-point performance helped the Eagles to a 71-37 win.

Bow finished with a game-high 34 points. Rutten finished with 18.

The Eagles have won three straight against U-H, including a 78-46 victory last year.

Big week

The Lady Eagles will close out their home schedule this week as their leader shoots for a milestone.

Rutten enter's the week 19 points shy of 2,000 for her career. She will get a good shot at passing that mark close to home.

The Eagles will host potential Section 6A playoff foe Park Christian at the Sports Center tonight (Feb. 11). Mills has won their last two games against the Falcons (2-14).

On Feb. 12, NY Mills will make-up their snowed out game at Perham.

The Jackets have won five in a row over Mills. The Eagles last win in the series was a 44-40 overtime victory in December, 2003.

Due to the Eagle wrestlers garnering a top-two seed in the Section 6A team playoffs (and thus hosting a first round meet on Feb. 16), the girls basketball game against Menahga on Feb. 16 has been moved to Thursday, Feb. 18.

The 'C' squad game will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the J.V. and varsity, respectively.

It will be the final regular season home game for the Lady Eagles. The Eagles beat Menahga on Jan. 14, 76-37, for their fourth straight win over the Braves.
