After holding on to an early lead at home Monday night against Lake Park-Audubon, the Eagles let a key Section 6A game get away in a 74-54 loss.

Mills was up 11-6 after a basket by Adam Snelgrove with 11:40 to play in the first half. But LP-A 15-2 run to open a 21-13 lead.

The Raiders held on to that nine-point margin the rest of the period, taking a 30-22 lead into halftime.

The Eagles offense picked up in the second half, scoring 33 points. But so did LP-A, as they put in 44 points in the final period to pull away with the victory.

Frank Peeters scored a career high 27 points to lead NY Mills, with 18 coming in the second half.

LP-A won last year's contest, 72-50.

Win over Rothsay

New York Mills got back in the win column Tuesday night with a 66-61 win over Rothsay. Full results were not available when EOT Illustrated went to press.

The Eagles upset Rothsay in the first round of last year's 6A playoffs, 64-58. The Tigers remain winless on the season at 0-21.

Loss at Menahga

A nine day break didn't help NY Mills prepare for Menahga Thursday night as the Braves cruised to a 89-49 win.

Menahga's balanced attack helped them to a 47-24 halftime lead. The Braves had seven players score in the first half, four of them had at least six points before the break.

Bauck led the Eagles with 17 points in the loss.

New York Mills won the first game this season against the Braves in overtime on Jan. 28, 76-72.

Regular season ends

The Eagles will play their final home game, and final Park Region Conference game of the season tonight (Feb. 25) when they host Pillager at the Sports Center.

NY Mills has won four in a row over Pillager, including a 73-58 road win on Jan. 21.

The last regular season game will be at Section 6A foe Underwood on March 1. The Rockets (9-11) won last year's contest, 67-59.
