Perham tennis opens season

Jordan Cresap took the only Perham victory in varsity tennis and Kiowa Wieser-Matthews swept a pair of singles matches on the junior varsity squad to get the tennis season started.

"Our boys are hitting better than ever," Coach Kyle Knutson said. "I am excited to see what they can do this year."

The Lumberjacks swept the doubles matches and were stingy in giving up games to the visiting Yellowjackets surrendering less than three games per set in all of one varsity match outside of Cresap's 6-1 6-4 win over Bemidji's Zach Hewitt.

"Bemidji is a solid program and always tough to beat," Knutson said.

Perham returns home on Friday to face Minnewaska.
