It was not uncommon to see Isaiah Bauck's name as the leading scorer in 2009 for Bryan Dunrud's New York Mills' boy's basketball team.

It is also no surprise he garnered all-conference honors.

"Isaiah is a gifted basketball player that not only has the physical tools to be good, he also mentally understands the ins and outs of the game which give him a leg up on the competition," Dunrud said.

According to Dunrud, Bauck's work ethic in season and off season have sharpened his skills and two years of physical development have enabled him to be not only a perimeter player but also a force down low.

"Through Isaiah's hard work and basketball savvy, he has become a solid scorer for us, as well as being one of our best defenders on the floor," said Dunrud. "He is only a junior and has the opportunity to really grow into a difference maker going into next season."

Joining Bauck from the Eagles' squad was sophomore Adam Snelgrove, who was named Honorable Mention in the conference.

"Adam has the ability to bring the ball up the floor and is a sharp shooter from beyond the arc," Dunrud said. "He works on his game and has refined his skills to be able to slash through the defense and finish at the basket. Only a sophomore, he has the ability to continue this growth over the next two seasons and become a special player for us."

Bertha-Hewitt and Sebeka led all teams with five nominees. Joey Cuperus of Sebeka was named Most Valuable Player. His coach, John Lillquist took Coach of the Year honors.
