Seven golfers from New York Mills will hit the links as part of the team at Wadena-Deer Creek this spring.

Isaiah Bauck, Nick LeTourneau, Creedan Dunrud, Bryce Pazdernik, Austion Reinke and Jacob Perala join the boy's team this year.

Coach Kevin Ross prefers let the scorecards do the talking.

"It's an individual sport," Ross said. "You shoot what you shoot."

Rounding out the team will be Duke Harrison, Wade Piper, Matthew Quincer, Jacob Goeden, Nick Torkkola and Sebeka's Michael Wing, who has shown Ross the kind of skill he wants for his squad.

"He' should be in one of the top six spots," Ross said.

The Wolverines will once again have to contend with Mid-State rivals Staples-Motley and Pequot Lakes. This year, the team moves to Section 8AA where Detroit Lakes and Hawley lurk as strong contenders for the title.

On the girl's side, New York Mills freshman Jackie Imsande looks to make an impression on the team as the only girl from Mills.

She will attempt to crack a line-up led by all-conference Kayla Krause and five returning letter-winners - sophomores Amanda Kramer and Breanna Speed, along with eighth graders Ella Harrison, Paige Hartman and Heather Theisen.

"She (Krause) hits the ball a long way and she's a smart player," WDC coach Melissa Tabery said.

The girls will open their season Friday, April 16 at Perham.
