Perham track teams run away with Hawley Invite

Both the boys and girls track teams sprinted away from competition at the Hawley Booster Invitational. Combined, the teams took first place in 10 events and both team titles.

Maddie McClellan set a new meet record in the 1600m run.

The boys' team score of 151 was 21 points better than second place Hawley-Ulen-Hitterdal. The girls' 125.5 was over 40 points up on the hosts.

Elisa Moenkedick took the discus with a throw of 133-05.5 and placed second in the shot put at 36-10.

McClellan, along with Abby Anderson and Holly Sheets took the top three spots in both the 800m and 1600m.

The top three 1600m places went to Perham boys as well. Sam Stoll, Keith Schornack and Klaus Weber finished in order.

James Covington and Tim Hermann were first and second in the boys 800m.

Another trio of Perham runners won the boys 3200m. Brandon Karels, Weber and Isaac Werner took top spots. Karens finished over a minute faster than Daniel Harren of Bertha-Hewitt, the closest non-Yellowjacket in the field.

Matt Winkels won the boys 110m hurdles with a time of 15.39. Matt Shipman finished sixth at 19.06.

In the girls 3200m, the top two spots went to Shayla Fulford and Maegen Stammen. Fulford finished a full minute and one-half better than the field at 12:20.56.

The Perham 'A' 4x100m relay team won by a tenth at 45.77 over Hawley-Ulen-Hitterdal's 45.87.

The girls 4x400m relay team also took first place. The Perham 'A' team bested Pelican Rapids by seven seconds running 4:23.78.
