Eagles drop two to end regular season play

Jarrod Norton dives back to first on a pick off attempt.

The Eagles nine dropped a pair of games to Bertha-Hewitt, 11-7 and 6-1, to end regular season play.

The Bears were able to get to pitcher Ted Rohr, a task many teams have found difficult this season. Rohr gave up six runs, five earned, on six hits in only two innings of work.

Spencer Imsande did not fair much better giving up five runs in five innings of relief.

The Eagles scored all but one of their seven runs in the fourth. Tristan Huwe knocked in three runs with a bases-clearing triple. Imsande, Mike Cichy and Rohr scored.

The Bears were also able to keep Eagle leadoff hitter Tanner Wegscheid off the base paths in game one, a rare feat. Wegscheid was 1-4 with a run scored.

The Eagles were held off the board in the nightcap until the seventh.

Cichy scored the lone NY Mills run on a Derek Gaudette double.

Adam Snelgrove went the distance taking the loss, giving up three earned runs, six total, walking three and fanning six.

Wegscheid was back to normal going 3-4 with a double and two base hits.

The Eagles finished the regular season even at 8-8. The Eagles were awarded the number five seed and will play at Frazee Tuesday. Tentative scheduled start time is 4:30 p.m.
