NY Mills 14-15's remain undefeated

The New York Mills 14 and 15's Babe Ruth team won four straight games last week to up their record to an impressive 18-0.

Over the season the team has found ways to win in all styles, from mercy rule thumpings to last-out comebacks.

Against Wadena, NY Mills found the going a bit more rough than normal winning a close 3-2 decision before sweeping the series 10-4 in the nightcap.

"We played our poorest two games of the year," Head Coach Tim Kupfer said. "We did not do things well, so it was nice to get out of there with a couple wins."

Cody Preuss was 2-2 at the dish. Brandon Kupfer went 4-5 with three doubles and Tyler Patron and Daniel Kraft also hit two-baggers.

Adam Patron got the win on the hill with three strikeouts and Tyler Patron pitched the fifth for the save

In game two, Kraft fanned three for the win and Patron mopped up the final frame again.

NY Mills faced a tough 13-3 Staples club and rudely welcomed then to town winning 11-1 in four innings. Kupfer was the winning pitcher striking out four and allowing only one hit.

"We played a good game, hit the ball well and played good defense, " Coach Kupfer said.

In the second game, Austin Erickson pitched 4 1/3 strong innings and Tyler Patron had a three-run homer over the left field fence.

Leading 7-2 going into the top of the fifth with some sketchy defense and good hitting on Staples part, the visitors knotted the game at seven.

As this team is wont to do, NY Mills came to the plate in the bottom of the fifth and did what they do best: win.

Adam Patron was hit by a pitch, stole second and third base and with points for originality, Coach Kupfer put on the suicide squeeze for the win.

"A great job by Tyler and great base running by Adam in the last inning," Kupfer said.
