Snowmobile Club Landowners Appreciation Picnic Sunday, September 19
The Otter Trail Riders Snowmobile Club will be hosting its annual Landowners Appreciation Picnic on Sunday, September 19 from 1 to 4 p.m.
The picnic will be held at the New York Mills V.F.W., and will include Gobble Up Turkey Sandwiches with chips and refreshments. The Otter Trail Riders prepares the annual appreciation picnic and provides door prizes to thank the 194 landowners for their assistance in providing 140 plus miles of snowmobile trails in the local trail system.
The Otter Trail Riders Snowmobile Club consists of 110 members that work to maintain the snowmobile trail system in East Otter Tail County. Members clean and maintain the system each fall and have two groomers that are used to maintain the system throughout the winter months. The second groomer was just purchased in early 2010 and will be displayed during the landowner picnic. In addition to maintaining the trail system, the Otter Trail Riders also groom the Henning trails to provide a loop to additional trails in Wadena and Todd Counties.
Members of the Otter Trail Riders Snowmobile Club also conduct snowmobile safety certification classes in Perham and New York Mills. The certification classes typically have as many as 100 students a year graduating, ensuring safe operation of snowmobiles in the area.
The members of the Otter Trail Riders would like to thank the landowners for their generosity in allowing their land to be used for the system and welcome them to the upcoming appreciation picnic.
