Perham swimmers fourth at Laker Invitational

Detroit Lakes dominated their home pool and their own Invitational lapping up Bemidji, Park Rapids, Perham and Thief River Falls. Perham finished in fourth place.

Ben Collette continues to star for the Yellowjackets.

Collette finished third in the 200-medley relay with teammates Mark Murphy, Zach Langendorfer and Matt Shipman in a time of 1:56.96.

The foursome had most of the top finishes for the Yellowjackets.

"The boys had a busy few days and did a great job dropping time," Head Coach Sheri Ressler said.

Murphy was fifth in the 200-I.M and sixth in the 100-breaststroke, a finish that qualified him for sections.

Shipman finished fifth in the 50-freestyle and seventh in one-meter diving. The diving finish qualified him for sections.

Shipman was also a member of the fourth place 400-freestyle relay with Langendorfer, Collette and Jayden Cullen.

Cullen finished fourth in the 200-freestyle in 2:04.50.

Collette was fifth in the 100-freestyle in a time of 58.56 He also finished second in the 100-breaststroke at 1:03.98. Perham took three of the top six 100-backstroke finishes. Chad Hofland was fifth in 1:11.40, a section qualifying time, and Luke Potts was sixth at 1:13.30.

Paul Swanson qualified for sections in the 100 butterfly.

Team scores: Detroit Lakes 416, Bemidji 344, Park Rapids 260, Perham 249, Thief River Falls 102.
