National volleyball tour to stop in Perham

The National Champion Volleyball Academy Tour will begin March 5 in Duluth, Minn., and end June 12 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, including 21 coaching clinic events in seven states.

The tour will make a May 21 stop in Perham.

Ten of the 21 events are in Minnesota or near the state border. Each event features national champion coach clinicians at the college and high school levels and a few events also feature state high school champion coach clinicians.

Most April through June dates include a volleyball and basketball academy on the same date and venue. All clinics invite coaches at all levels to participate.

The purpose of the events provides advanced technical and tactical skill development in volleyball coaching to maximize a coach's knowledge and presentation to their team and program development.

April 8, Bemidji State University, Russ Rose, Penn State University;

April 9, Cass Lake-Bena HS, James Giacomazzi, Wayland Baptist University and Bill Walton, University of Houston and Elmhurst College;

April 10, Bemidji State University, Teri Clemens, Washington University in St. Louis and Jane Peterson, Central Lakes College;

April 30, Tea HS (5 miles south of Sioux Falls), Russ Rose, Penn State University;

May 1, North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, ND, Russ Rose, Penn State University;

May 7, Bois Forte Wellness Center, Vermilion, Amber Warners, Calvin College and Franz Boelter, Bethlehem Academy;

May 21, Perham HS, Terry Gamble, McNeese State University and Larry Bock, Navy and Juniata College;

May 22, Henry Sibley HS, Mendota Heights, Kris Russell, University of Wisconsin Whitewater and Teri Clemens, Washington University in St. Louis.

Most clinic events are not sponsored and are dependent on registration interest. Pre-registration is required by two weeks before each event.

The individual coach registration fee up to three coaches is $60 each per event and a special all school staff rate of $200 per event includes registration for all coaches at all levels in the school program. The fee includes lecture and on court demonstration instruction, a practice drill manual, and a notepad.
