Eagle wrestlers second at PRC meet

Sophomore Shane Novak, of New York Mills, 112 pounds, was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the Park Region Conference tournament and also won the pinning award with three pins in four minutes 53 seconds.

The Eagles finished second behind Ottertail Central for the conference title.

Ottertail Central won the tournament for the first time ever for either the dual or team tournament.

The Eagles finished second to Browerville-Eagle Valley last season.

Three Eagles took home conference titles.

Novak took the title at 112 pounds pinning Adam Sutlief, of Browerville-Eagle Valley, at 57 seconds in the finals. This was his third championship title. He had won at 103 pound the two prior years.

Tommy Selander won at 103 pounds. He took a 4-2 decision over Tristan Rubner, of Pequot Lakes-Pine River-Backus, Selander was had a runner-up finish at last year's tournament.

Tyler Patron was victorious in the 189-pound class. He faced OTC's Taylor Carlson in the finals and came away with a 9-4 decision.

Two Eagles finished runners-up in their respective weight classes.

Peter Stark made the finals at 145 pounds, where he lost a close 5-4 decision to OTC's Tyler Olson.

Noah Pesola dropped a 1-5 decision to Kevin Hahn of Parkers Prairie.

Seth Hofland, 152, and Max Carlson, 215, took home third place finishes; Hofland via decision, 5-2, over Tom Averill of Royalton and Carlson won by fall at 3:31, pinning OC's Aaron Bengston.

Scott Hart, of Ottertail Central, was named coach of the year.
