Fort Thunder Shooting Center opening May 3


Fort Thunder Shooting Center, in Perham, will start their 40th year of shooting May 3, offering 5-stand, trap skeet and sporting clay leagues, along with open shooting.

This is a non-membership club and to join a team or participate in an event by calling LeRoy Atkinson at 218-346-6083 to register.

Fort Thunder Shooting Center will be hosting three registered skeet tournaments: the Farmers State Bank, Dent and Perham Open May 7-8 with $300 added money.

The Tuffy's Pet Foods Open will be July 23-24 with $500 added money.

In August, the Minnesota State Skeet Championships will be held at Fort Thunder Shooting Center.

Two all-around clay open fun shoots will also be held.

The L&L Fabrication and Steel Company shoot is scheduled for June 11-12.

The Zorbaz Little Pine Lake shoot is July 16-17.

Saturday, August 27 will mark the Bob Perszyk Memorial Shoot with a donation being made from funds raised to fight cancer in honor of Bob.

The last shoot of the season is scheduled for September 10-11, the EOT Deer Hunters Association Kid's Day.

All events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

The Shooting Center also offers rifle and pistol shooting.

Hours of operation are 5 p.m. until dark on Wednesdays. Saturday and Sunday the Center is open from 1-5 p.m.

Other times are available by appointment.

The Fort Thunder Shooting Center is located just outside of Perham on Fort Thunder Road off of State Highway 78.

The shoots are National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) registered and participants must be paying members of the NSSA or the Minnesota Skeet Shooting Association. More information can be found at
