NY Mills victorious at Frazee

Megan Cole looks to knock in EmaLeigh Roberts from third base in the Eagles victory at Frazee.

The New York Mills Eagles traveled to Frazee on Friday and returned home with an 8-1 victory.

The win improves the Eagles record to 7-4. They have won five of their last six games and seven of their last nine after starting the season 0-2.

Timely hitting and strong defense were the keys to victory, despite four errors.

The Eagles pounded out 11 hits to get runners on base, accepting a base on balls only twice.

Eagle pitching held the Hornets at bay allowing only two runners by way of walks and surrendering only two hits.

In their past six games, including a loss, the Eagles have outscored their opponents 61-43.

NY Mills scoring average of 9.4 runs per game is second amongst Park Region Conference teams. Only Pillager scores more runs putting up 10.3 runs per game.

Those two teams recently split a doubleheader. Pillager won the opener 13-9 and the Eagles took the nightcap 10-8, showcasing those averages in both games.

What may come back to haunt NY Mills as the season moves to the back half and heads to playoff time is allowing 8.5 runs per game, 1.8 runs less than they score, leaving little room for error.
