Perham boys golf team take Barnesville HOL title

The Perham boys golf team, led by Dan Cavanagh and Evan Arvig, outdistanced the field by 13 team strokes to take the Heart O' Lakes Conference meet at Barnesville.

Cavanagh missed medalist honors to Frazee's top golfer, Beau Hanson, by way of a scorecard playoff, after both golfers finished with top scores of 37.

Arvig placed third a stroke back at 38.

With the victory, the Yellowjackets padded another point on second place Hawley/Ulen-Hitterdal in the HOL conference standings.

Perham sits atop the standings with nine points. Hawley/Ulen-Hitterdal is four back at 13.

To overtake the Yellowjackets, Hawley/Ulen-Hitterdal would need to win two consecutive HOL meets and have Perham finish third or worse to make up the four points, which, given how the season has played out, is unlikely.

The race is a two-team contest for the conference title as Barnesville sits in third place with 25 points and Frazee is fourth with 27. The remaining teams in the field are well back of the front-runners.
