Volleyball: Eagles sweep Pillager for second conference victory

The New York Mills Eagles volleyball team notched their second conference win of the season sweeping Pillager 3-0, (25-23, 25-10, 25-15, in their last home regular season match.

"This was a good conference win for us at this point in the season," Head Coach Amy Koskela said. "Hopefully, this helps our morale for the last game of the season and into the playoffs."

The Eagles will finish regular season play on the road at Menahga Tuesday, Oct. 18.

After a tight first game that came down to the wire, the Eagles cruised past Pillager easily winning both the final game by spreads of double digits.

Ellie Rutten led the way with eight kills, two aces and five blocks.

Taylor Geiser had seven kills, eight digs and one ace.

Jackie Imsande was a strong presence in the middle with six kills, three blocks, four digs and an assist.

Brooke Kupfer had 14 digs. Lexie Rankka added five digs and 19 assists.

The Eagles improve to 2-3 in the Park Region Conference, good for fourth place. They are 7-13 overall.
