GLYNDON - Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton clinched the Heart O' Lakes Conference regular-season volleyball championship as the Rebels came back to beat Perham 23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 Thursday.

Three of the four games were decided by the slimmest of margins.

"Too many mental and communication errors in this match," Head Coach Dan Christenson said. "We have been preaching how important every point is, and when you have game scores of 25-23, one or two points obviously made the difference. We can no longer afford the communication mistakes at this point of the season. Unfortunately tonight, it cost us a conference championship."

Emily Pender collected 13 kills and Mandy Mercil tallied 41 assists for the Rebel (17-3, 6-0 HOL).

Katrina Moenkedick had 18 kills for the Yellowjackets.

After winning the first game and on the verge of taking game two, leading 22-20, it looked like it could be a clean sweep for the Yellowjacket upset. D-G-F has only three losses on the season. They have an overall record of 17-3.

A missed serve and two errors from the back row, gave the Rebels the momentum needed to take the game, and then the match.

"We're right there," Christenson said. "It's frustrating as we lost but know we should have won. Our middles struggled to put together double blocks on the outside later in the match, and it cost us. D-G-F took advantage of the open court."

The loss drops Perham (4-2) to third in the conference behind DGF (6-0) and Hawley (5-1).

Perham cruised to a conference victory over Pelican Rapids, 3-0, (25-12, 25-23, 25-18), Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Miranda Lockhart and Moenkedick led the Jackets with 11 kills. Lockhart had three blocks; Moenkedick blocked two.
