McClellan second at Tim Young Invitational

VERMILLION, S.D. - Sophomore Heidi Peterson finished in first place to lead the North Dakota State women's cross country team to the team title at the Tim Young Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 15. The Bison tallied 21 points and second place host South Dakota scored 49.

Peterson covered the five-kilometer course in 17 minutes 47.27 seconds to win her second meet title of the year. She led five Bison finishers in the top 10 of the 48-athlete race. Sophomore Maddie McClellan, of Perham, finished second in 18:04.94 and senior Jordan Krahn took fifth in 18:17.02.

Junior Faith Kruchowski was just behind Krahn in sixth in a time of 18:18.99. Freshman Abbi Aspengren rounded out the Bison scoring, finishing 10th in her first collegiate race in 18:28.84.

This was the final regular season competition for the Bison before they travel to The Summit League Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Saturday, Oct. 29.
