The #2-2A Yellowjackets got up early and cruised to a 72-44 victory over Staples-Motley (0-1) to open the home half of the schedule at Prairie Wind Middle School. The victory ups Perham's record to 2-0 keeping pace with #1-2A Pelican Rapids (2-0).

Jordan Bruhn led Perham for the second consecutive game scoring 23 points. He put up the same total at Crosby-Ironton last week.

All of Bruhn's points came from inside the paint.

Mark Schumacher scored 16 and Jordan Cresap added 14 points.

Brian Huber was the only Cardinal in double figures with 16 points.

The game was the season opener for Staples-Motley. It does not get much tougher than facing Perham on the road to start a season. Perham has won 21 consecutive games.

Crookston (1-0) comes to town tonight, Thursday, Dec. 8, to take on the Jackets at 7:30 p.m. The Pirates opened their season with a 61-39 victory over Park Rapids.

After the Crookston game, Perham will face two tough tests in #5-3A St. Thomas Academy on the road Saturday, Dec. 10 at 2:45 p.m. in Minnetonka at the Breakdown Tip-Off Classic and back at home Friday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. for the top of the 2A state rankings showdown with arch rivals Pelican Rapids.
