Boys Basketball: Pillager sneaks out of NY Mills in overtime

Adam Snelgrove continues to put up huge scoring numbers for the New York Mills Eagles, (1-7, 0-3), tallying 37 in a tough overtime loss to Pillager, (6-1, 2-0), in a Park Region Conference game.

Snelgrove's increased output has pushed the Eagles to an average of 79.6 points per game in their last three games compared to just 39.4 in the first five games of the season.

In two games over the holidays at the Sebeka tournament, Snelgrove poured in 36 against Sebeka and 27 points in the Eagles only victory of the season over Northland-Remus.

Conner Uselman scored 20 points for the Huskies, along with EJ Ziegler's 18 and Cole Hunstad's 17.

Charlie Peeters had six field goals for 12 points, the only other Eagle in double figures.

Snelgrove scored eight of NY Mills' nine points in the overtime period. Damon Tumberg added a free throw in the extra period. Both Tumberg and Snelgrove missed a free throw each that could have been the tying or game-winning points.

The Eagles shot 9-14 from the line in the game.

The Huskies opened the door making less than half of their freebies, shooting 15-31.

Uselman and Ziegler each had two baskets in overtime. Isaac Jacobson added another.

The Eagles held a two-point advantage at the break 37-35.

Snelgrove scored 13 second half points compared to 12 from the rest of the Eagles. He made all five of the Eagles' three-point baskets.

NY Mills is winless in three conference games this season. The Huskies sit atop the standings with two wins against no losses.
