Something had to give when Perham visited New York Mills in a battle of two teams with dual winning streaks.

Perham ended NY Mills' six-dual run by winning their eighth straight, 49-22, Friday evening.

"The team is coming around," Perham Head Coach Robb Moser said. "We wrestled better than I expected, but we still have lots of room for improvement."

The match started out quickly for the Eagles at the lower weights. NY Mills opened up a 13-0 advantage taking the first three matches.

Jeremiah Harper defeated Elliot Werner 15-7. #1-ranked Shane Novak pinned Sam Pirrotta at 1:59 and Austin Haman won a close 4-3 decision over Dylan Perrine.

Brandon Lueders got Perham on the board blanking Tyler Ehnert 8-0 and then the Yellowjacket middleweights went to work.

Aside from Eagles 138-pounder, Maison Roberts, staying alive against Perham's #10-ranked Luke Sailer in a 7-1 Sailer victory, five of the next six matches all ended in Perham pins.

Sailer led 2-1 after the first and second periods, before putting the match away in the third. His victory tied the score at 13.

Josh Werner pinned Andrew Perala at 3:12 the match prior to cut the Eagle lead to 13-10.

Brady Sazama won by fall over Taylor Ericksrud at 3:17 after taking an early 4-1 lead in the first period.

Ty Haverland did much of the same, leading 4-1 after one, before taking down Gunner Flynn at 3:48. Both wrestlers were rolled and had each other's back on the mat before Haverland gained control.

Andrew Moberg pinned Ryan Lee at 2:57 and the home bench of the Eagles quieted as Perham took control of the match 25-13. Moberg dominated the first period putting up a 5-0 lead.

William Parks made it four pins in a row defeating a frustrated Michael Meyers at 170 pounds by fall at 2:47. Parks led 2-0 after the first period.

Noah Pesola ended the Perham run with a hard-fought victory over Garrett Biegler 11-4. Both the 182 pounders battled each other with both wrestlers in trouble, at times, but Pesola used his height advantage to stall on defense while quickly moving to counterattack. He led 5-2 after the first. Biegler got the best of Pesola in the second cutting the lead to 6-4, before Pesola almost ended the match late in the third scoring a near fall at the horn.

Up 37-16, the dual came to a less than exciting finish, as the final three matches were all forfeits, keeping Perham heavies #3-Jesse Hein, #2-Cody Nylander and NY Mills' Max Carlson off the mat, aside from the obligatory arm raise with the referee.
