Girls Basketball: Yellowjackets cruise over Park Rapids

PERHAM -- With a tough stretch of games coming up, the Perham girls basketball team (6-10) has been playing .500 basketball winning four of their last eight, including their past two, after a 75-40 blowout victory at home over Park Rapids (1-15) Thursday night.

"Our girls started strong tonight," Perham Head Coach John Gullingsrud said. "We came out in the first half and really got the pace going in our favor."

So much so, the game was in hand at the break as Perham raced out to a 43-18 lead at halftime.

"Our defense got us going into many transition baskets as we built a nice lead in the first half."

Becky Stoll had a double-double with 18 points and 10 assists.

Katrina Moenkedick led all scorers with 22 points. She also had nine rebounds.

"We also passed the ball well with Becky Stoll leading us with 10 assists. A lot of girls saw the court in the second half, which made it a total team win tonight."

All 14 Yellowjackets saw playing time, nine scored.

Katie Klein was the only Panther in double digits. She scored 13 points.

"Hopefully, we can carry this momentum into next week as we have three tough games. "

Perham will host Pelican Rapids (14-4) and Detroit Lakes (11-5), with a road trip in between games to Breckenridge, where the Cowgirls are only 6-10 overall, but never make it an easy game at home.
