Boys Basketball: Eagles pick up second victory

NEW YORK MILLS -- Only four shooters scored for the NY Mills boys basketball team, but they propelled the Eagles to their second win of the season defeating Rothsay 66-53 on Parents night.

Rothsay held a one-point advantage at halftime, 27-26, but Adam Snelgrove exploded in the second half scoring 21 of his 28 points to lead all scorers.

While Snelgrove typically scores many of his points from three-point range, he had only one three, combined with nine field goals, while shooting 7-9 from the free throw line.

Charlie Peeters added 19 points, shooting 5-6 from the line and scoring seven from the field.

The victory snaps a 13-game losing streak for NY Mills and was the third highest scoring output of the season.

The Eagles scored 83 in their only other victory over Northland at the Sebeka tournament and 68 points in a seven-point loss to Sebeka.

Dexter Aaberg made five threes and led the Tigers with 21 points.

But the Eagles outgunned the Tigers 40-26 in the second half to pull away.

Damon Tumberg continues to produce for NY Mills. He scored 13 points leading the team with two three-pointers.

Chance Pettow scored six points.

NY Mills improves to 2-19 on the season. Rothsay falls to 1-20.
