PERHAM -- The Yellowjackets boys basketball team defeated Barnesville Thursday evening 53-47 to clinch a share of the Heart O' Lakes Conference title.

Pelican Rapids will meet Barnesville in Pelican Rapids next week. A Vikings victory will split the conference title with Perham for the second straight year.

Perham jumped all over Barnesville early leading 17-5, but the Trojans clawed back to within five, 19-14, as time wound down in the first half.

A Dan Cavanagh put-back at the buzzer pushed Perham's lead to 24-16 at the break. Cavanagh led Perham in scoring in the first half with six points.

The first half was a half-court battle with neither team getting free to run the court.

A Mark Schumacher bucket pushed Perham's lead back to double digits early in the second half 34-24, but point guard Jordan Bruhn twisted an ankle with 13:07 to go.

Bruhn's absence created even more of a half-court game and the Trojans managed to claw back into the game again

Bruhn's diagnosis has yet to be released.

With eight minutes remaining, a Jordan Anderson three-pointer spread the lead to Perham's largest of the second half, 13 points, 41-28.

Barnesville went on a late 16-7 run to shave the lead to four points, 48-44, with 90 seconds.

Anderson struck again with another three to put a dagger in the Trojans comeback. Mark Schumacher clinched the game from the line with 12.2 seconds remaining.

Schumacher led all scorers with 14 points and nine rebounds. Anderson scored 13 points. Jordan Cresap had 11 points.

Michael Strand led Barnesville with 13 points. Robbie Strand scored 11.
