Busy week for boys golf team

MENAHGA --Thursday's Menahga Invite at Blueberry Pines Golf Club was won by Staples-Motley shooting a 296. Perham finished in second place with a 328.

According to head coach Jeff Tweeton, Nick Forsberg and Mike Strain from Staples-Motley were the co-medalists, with very good scores of 70, especially considering the weather.

Bagley finished third with a 341 in what Tweeton called not the strongest field in the world.

Perham's scores were Dan Cavanagh 83, Evan Arvig 83, Tom Huus 81, Nick Kalina 82, Nick Bahls 82, and Kyle Dykhoff 85.

Perham finished third out of 14 teams over the weekend at Staples.

Staples-Motley won their home event with a 303, Bemidji finished second with a 313, and Perham totaled a 319 in third place.

Cavanagh led the Yellowjackets firing a 76, good for third place individually.

Tweeton said the team's effort was better than Thursday at Menahga.

Forsberg was medalist again with a 72. Trey Dale from Bemidji was runner-up with a 75.

Cavanagh's 76 tied with three others golfers.

Arvig shot 78.

Other Perham scores: Tom Huus 83, Nick Kalina 85, Toby Curtis 82, and Kyle Dykhoff 87.

Perham continued a busy week with Monday's conference meet at Frazee

The Yellowjackets left Frazee victorious by eight strokes combining for a team score of Perham 150, followed by: Hawley 158; Frazee 158; WCA 164; DGF 169; Barnesville 175; Pelican 178; Breckenridge 181.

Perham leads the Heart O' Lakes Conference team rankings after yesterday's meet.

HOL Standings:

Perham 3 points; Hawley 6; Frazee 11; Barnesville, West Central Area, and Pelican Rapids 15; Breckenridge 20; DGF 21.

Beau Hanson was the medalist on his home course shooting a 33. Casey Bruggeman of Pelican Rapids was runner up with a 35.

Perham's Toby Curtis scored low for the Yellowjackets carding a 37, along with Tom Huus and Evan Arvig.

Cavanagh shot 39; Nick Kalina shot 40; Kyle Dykhoff rounded out Perham's winning group with a 41.

HOL-Frazee Individual scores: Medalist--Beau Hanson, Frazee 33; Casey Bruggeman-Pelican Rapids 35; Zach Ziegler-Frazee 36; Toby Curtis-Perham 37; Jordan Larson-DGF 37; and Tom Huus-Perham 37.

Other Perham scores: Evan Arvig 37; Dan Cavanagh 39; Nick Kalina 40; and Kyle Dykhoff 41.
