SEBEKA -- Of the teams remaining on the schedule, NY Mills' Tyler Patron made mention a few weeks ago about tough match-ups still to come from Sebeka and Frazee.

The Eagles dispatched Sebeka on the road in a pair of wins, (7-2 and 1-0) in a sweep that has the Eagles one win from clinching the Park Region Conference title.

The Eagles (8-0) hold a commanding three-game lead in the conference over Pillager (5-3) with a doubleheader against the Huskies coming tomorrow, Tuesday, May 15.

Pitching dominated both games against the Trojans (3-4, 5-7).

In the opener, Adam Snelgrove took care of four innings of outs, plus one more out for good measure, fanning 13 Trojans.

In a tight game two, Brandon Kupfer went one better striking out 14 batters.

That is a full regulation nine-inning game of outs between the pair in only 14 innings of play. Minnesota State High School games are a regulation seven innings.

Both pitchers hurled complete games for victories.

"That's an amazing accomplishment," Eagles Head Coach Chris Bushinger said.

Snelgrove allowed two runs on only two hits.

Kupfer pitched a one-hit shutout, allowing just a single to Sebeka first baseman Sam Tellers in the fourth inning. Tellers was stranded on second.

Jason Steinke was the only Trojan to reach third base after reaching on a base on balls in the first.

Both Snelgrove and Kupfer allowed only one walk in their appearances.

Adam Patron worked all 14 innings behind the plate for both pitchers.

The Eagles battled for the sweep scoring their only run in the sixth inning of game two.

Adam Patron singled, was sacrificed to second by Kupfer and advanced to third base on a past ball.

Senior Maison Roberts knocked Patron in for the game-winner with a two-out base hit.

Patron and Roberts had the only hits in the game for NY Mills.

The Eagles trailed 2-1 in the opener of the double dip until the fifth inning.

Sebeka took advantage of three consecutive errors in the first inning, from the mound, shortstop and in left field, to put up the two unearned runs.

Shane Novak, Kupfer and Tyler Patron all scored to give the Eagles a 4-2 advantage in the fifth. The Eagles added three more in the seventh for insurance.

Adam Patron, Roberts and Tyler Patron scored.

Tyler Patron and Snelgrove had a pair of RBI each. Kupfer knocked in a run.

The top seven in the lineup accounted for the Eagles 10 hits.
