PELICAN RAPIDS -- Perham and the host Vikings continued their season-long shootout with the Vikings winning another meet by only five strokes over the Yellowjackets.

Senior Mackenzie Strand, of Pelican Rapids, was the medalist on her home course shooting a low round of 38.

Rebecca Huus, an eighth-grader and junior Rachel Nelson, of Perham, were right behind Strand.

Huus carded a 40; Nelson scored a 41.

Paige Mattfeld, a freshman from Hawley/Ulen-Hitterdal, was the only golfer not from Perham or Pelican Rapids to crack the top five. She finished in fourth place with a 42, ahead of senior Viking Chaiwon Youn's 43.

The victory gives Pelican Rapids a solid hold on the regular season standings with eight points to Perham's 16 heading into the Heart O' Lakes Tournament Tuesday at Wildflower in Detroit Lakes.

The Vikings have had the Yellowjackets number this year finishing ahead of Perham in each of the eight conference meets and once in a non-conference tournament.
