DETROIT LAKES -- Perham's boys golf team ran away with the Heart O' Lakes Conference all year and continued their dominance at Wildflower Golf Course in Detroit Lakes capturing the Conference Championship by 27 strokes over Frazee.

The revolving door of which Perham golfer will shoot low continued as Nick Kalina paced the Yellowjackets with a 73, good for runner-up honors to Frazee's defending champion Beau Hanson.

Perham's Dan Cavanagh was third with a 74, Evan Arvig made the top-six list half Yellowjackets with a fifth place finish of 78.

Last year's team tournament champion, Hawley/Ulen-Hitterdal finished third, 29 strokes behind Perham.

One stroke separated three teams in the middle of the pack.

West Central Area took fourth with a 356, along with Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. Barnesville was sixth one stroke back with a 357.

Breckenridge played along to parody with a seventh place 359, three shots from fourth place

All six of Perham's starting golfers were named all-conference. In average stroke rankings for the season, Cavanagh finished second to Hanson. Arvig was third; Kalina sixth; Thomas Huus 10th; Kyle Dykhoff 11th, and Toby Curtis, who won last week, was 13th in conference standings.

Head Coach Jeff Tweeton is confident about the upcoming Sub-Section meet, Wednesday, May 30, in Park Rapids. The meet will be held at Headwaters Golf Course.

"They all have the games," Tweeton said.

Should the Yellowjackets advance to the Section meet in Walker, June 1, they will face a tough task in defeating the defending state champion Lakers from Detroit Lakes.

"We need to shoot 300 at sections," said Tweeton.

The Section 8AA championship is held at Longbow Golf Course.
